A day without rain

Well family and friends, it has been one week of being here in the UK in intern mode.
I believe my body is almost in UK time... although mornings can be a bit difficult, lets be honest, mornings have never been my thing ;)

Apparently as I arrived, so did the change of weather, rain arrived making each day changeable from moment to moment.
'Oh look, it's sunny!' 2 minutes later, down pouring. Makes for a bit of concern while walking, never knowing if you should be prepared for a sudden down pour. But I signed up for this, so no real complaining from me.... just getting adjusted to things.
For example, sayings and words you should be using. I have to say, I have had to ask many time what people are saying to me, or, what exactly they have asked me to do. The words they use, so different! But then, I also have funny saying and words that they in turn need me to clarify and it has been rather amusing.

I have yet to really go any where beyond the coffee shop, church and my host home. My friend however offered to pick me up and send the afternoon with me backpack hunting this past Saturday. We may have gone and gotten Lattes as well!

I am feeling a bit of a need to do a day trip, I need to get more seeing in, but deciding what to see can be a difficult choice as there is so much I would love to see. Where to start is the challenge, one that I most certainly am excited about! I shall keep you posted, hopefully with pictures as to where I set my sites on first.

I have had the privilege of meeting some really amazing people. The other 2 young ladies who are helping out are wonderful and I believe (as we all have said) that we will become really great friends. We are so looking forward to hanging out and taking in all this year has to offer.

Today the sun shone and continued to do so. I wondered if we would have a day without rain. Then as sure as the sun rises and sets, did the rain make its appearance this afternoon. Good thing I am not a gambling girl, because betting on this weather would prove to be a waste of time. Despite my lack of day with pure sunshine, it was one that was filled with laughter, great conversation, lots of me going off on tangents (my apologies to all you unfortunate souls who have to deal with me and my excitement over particular topics of interest... you'll get use to me soon enough) and ended on a great note with going out for A Curry, as people enjoy doing.

That is all for now. Hope to have some worthwhile pictures soon!

Mucho love. Xxoxo

Changing Leaves

"I keep turning over new leaves, and spoiling them, as I used to spoil my copybooks; and I make so many beginnings there never will be an end."   ~Jo March,  Louisa May Alcott, Little Women. A few years ago, I upgraded to a new-to-me, used iPhone.  The camera was better, the storage slightly larger for my obsessive hobby of taking photos of things that caught my eye during walks.  (Let me be honest, it happened far too often, but then again, it's who I am!) My friend's husband jokingly asked if it came with a photo album of leaves, or something along those lines. To his credit, it was a witty and hilarious joke that reflected a reality and truth, that all who were present knew very well... Sheena sure loved to post photos of leaves. I can't help it, my breath catches and I want to document the moment, the transition and to share it with others.  The difference between today and tomorrow is everything in this season.  So, I don't want to miss this moment, th...

No Shortcuts

Work smarter, not harder. Wisdom that has served me well in many an instance. However, a shortcut may seem like the best decision, the easiest option and even perhaps the smartest choice. But what if the blessing is found in the delay? Or in the journey that takes more time? What if the landscape along the longer route lends itself to invoking creativity, that only finds its inspiration in the beholding of its view? What if the courage you will need one day, comes from the obstacles faced along the route that are more complex in its landscape?  What if the only way to learn to navigate the roadblocks in life come from learning to read the map along the way? Why do we despise the delay? Why do we find frustration in taking more time to end up where we intend to be? Shortcuts.  Are they truly the easier option? Or could they inhibit the process of preparing us for our destination in the most beneficial and beautiful way.  Could they ...

Chucking things in a bin

In an attempt to be productive tonight, I found myself rummaging through boxes filled with collections from my teenage years I found it very interesting to look back and discover things kept that were once important to me. Items that held sentiment, dreams, goals and hope for the future, or memories of moments I never wanted to forget Tonight I found myself looking at these items through different lenses Chucking things in the bin became a overwhelming source of freedom Not everything, by any means, but certain things that no longer held value or use, found their way into the bin. Now if only I could be as decisive on my future... Where the road leads, I have no idea, but I am excited for what adventure is around the corner
