Tea & Life

Tea.
A delicious warm drink.
Also known in England as a Cuppa....
How I enjoy drinking tea.

Truth be told, the frequency of which I partake in this rather common and daily habit for some, is quite diminished as of late.

I asked myself why this was, as I was soaking up the moonlit sky, on my rather brisk walk this evening.

Tea.
Warm, comforting and even more delicious accompanied by scones, clotted cream & jam.... just saying.

Of an evening with my Aunt, watching various British period programs,we have been known to consume at least 3 very, very, large pots of tea.
My ability to drink tea is rather astonishing.

Yet the kettle seldom used and the tea gone more untouched as of late.
Why?

Simply put.
Tea is most enjoyable with friends.

Going round to a friends and them popping the kettle on before you even have your shoes off.
Finding a place to enjoy tea and cake after a wander in a beautiful country side garden.
Conversations well into the morning hours requiring endless amounts of tea.
When life leaves you a bit bruised and worse for wear, a friend making you tea always helps as a place to start unloading the burdens you need help carrying.

So I sit sipping my tea in a quite home alone and pondering life.
Will the pot find itself empty by the nights end... or shall it remain awaiting the second mug for which it was intended to provide.

What do you find more enjoyable in the company of friends?

Changing Leaves

"I keep turning over new leaves, and spoiling them, as I used to spoil my copybooks; and I make so many beginnings there never will be an end."   ~Jo March,  Louisa May Alcott, Little Women. A few years ago, I upgraded to a new-to-me, used iPhone.  The camera was better, the storage slightly larger for my obsessive hobby of taking photos of things that caught my eye during walks.  (Let me be honest, it happened far too often, but then again, it's who I am!) My friend's husband jokingly asked if it came with a photo album of leaves, or something along those lines. To his credit, it was a witty and hilarious joke that reflected a reality and truth, that all who were present knew very well... Sheena sure loved to post photos of leaves. I can't help it, my breath catches and I want to document the moment, the transition and to share it with others.  The difference between today and tomorrow is everything in this season.  So, I don't want to miss this moment, th...

No Shortcuts

Work smarter, not harder. Wisdom that has served me well in many an instance. However, a shortcut may seem like the best decision, the easiest option and even perhaps the smartest choice. But what if the blessing is found in the delay? Or in the journey that takes more time? What if the landscape along the longer route lends itself to invoking creativity, that only finds its inspiration in the beholding of its view? What if the courage you will need one day, comes from the obstacles faced along the route that are more complex in its landscape?  What if the only way to learn to navigate the roadblocks in life come from learning to read the map along the way? Why do we despise the delay? Why do we find frustration in taking more time to end up where we intend to be? Shortcuts.  Are they truly the easier option? Or could they inhibit the process of preparing us for our destination in the most beneficial and beautiful way.  Could they ...

Chucking things in a bin

In an attempt to be productive tonight, I found myself rummaging through boxes filled with collections from my teenage years I found it very interesting to look back and discover things kept that were once important to me. Items that held sentiment, dreams, goals and hope for the future, or memories of moments I never wanted to forget Tonight I found myself looking at these items through different lenses Chucking things in the bin became a overwhelming source of freedom Not everything, by any means, but certain things that no longer held value or use, found their way into the bin. Now if only I could be as decisive on my future... Where the road leads, I have no idea, but I am excited for what adventure is around the corner
