Odds and Ends

A few signs I found amusing
My Cousin knew how much I wished to share this trip with her and her mom, as they were the ones who introduced me to everything England that I have grown to love. So she sent me 'them' to take with me and share in them seeing the sites with me. I thought it was very creative! =D
This was a project the adults worked on over the course of 3 nights; 3D puzzles are a pain!

This is the Cowl my cousin Johanna made me. I love it.
I decided to bake some cookies. And thought I'd enjoy a Chai tea that Melanie sent me, while listening to Downton Abbey.

Lego can be rather addictive Master E and I build this together one day.

Another goal was to read Emma while in England... I have only a few weeks to achieve that goal!

Mornings and I aren't the greatest friends. But I have to say, when I wake up to sites in the sky such as these two days, mornings begin to win me over. Kinda...*yawn*

  1. Yay! Thinking of Jane Austen, I found Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters on sale awhile back and then realized that I hadn't read Sense and Sensibility yet. The parody wouldn't be funny unless I read the original (even if I had watched the movie =P) So we can read Jane Austen novels together and apart =D

If adventure will not befall.

"If adventure will not befall a young lady in her own village, she must seek them abroad." -Jane Austen In a moment everything can change I know this full well Yet, I find myself, even still, in a state of utter disbelief that this is my reality To the person who saw that my roots ran deep and my feet were planted That recognized that my growth was stunted. Who spoke into who she knew I could be and saw what I was capable of. Thank you.  For your vote of confidence. Speaking life into a dream that was in my heart For taking the well loved and cared for, potted flower & moving it into a new place where growth could continue Giving me the courage and the safely to know I was loved no matter where home became. I had no idea my life could be as it is Remember the days when you spoke so sure about how things would be and always would be...? You know, the things that are absolutes in your life, in your ignorance and innocents of youthful pride "I will neve...

A day without rain

Well family and friends, it has been one week of being here in the UK in intern mode.  I believe my body is almost in UK time... although mornings can be a bit difficult, lets be honest, mornings have never been my thing ;) Apparently as I arrived, so did the change of weather, rain arrived making each day changeable from moment to moment.  'Oh look, it's sunny!' 2 minutes later, down pouring. Makes for a bit of concern while walking, never knowing if you should be prepared for a sudden down pour. But I signed up for this, so no real complaining from me.... just getting adjusted to things. For example, sayings and words you should be using. I have to say, I have had to ask many time what people are saying to me, or, what exactly they have asked me to do. The words they use, so different! But then, I also have funny saying and words that they in turn need me to clarify and it has been rather amusing. I have yet to really go any where beyond the coffee shop, church and my h...

No Shortcuts

Work smarter, not harder. Wisdom that has served me well in many an instance. However, a shortcut may seem like the best decision, the easiest option and even perhaps the smartest choice. But what if the blessing is found in the delay? Or in the journey that takes more time? What if the landscape along the longer route lends itself to invoking creativity, that only finds its inspiration in the beholding of its view? What if the courage you will need one day, comes from the obstacles faced along the route that are more complex in its landscape?  What if the only way to learn to navigate the roadblocks in life come from learning to read the map along the way? Why do we despise the delay? Why do we find frustration in taking more time to end up where we intend to be? Shortcuts.  Are they truly the easier option? Or could they inhibit the process of preparing us for our destination in the most beneficial and beautiful way.  Could they ...
